#13/13 MEMPHIS (14-2, 3-0) at WICHITA STATE (8-7, 0-2) Game Thread

For 15 minutes, we were hanging in there with a highly ranked and talented team. Our offense and shooting were the best we have shown all year for 15 minutes. Never seen Paul Mills so excited or animated for a moment. Hark!!! Was that some zone I witnessed on our Shocker D? What? Not many teams from here will rain in 3s quite like today me hopes.

The Shockers played hard and I saw some encouraging things that I hope start developing more asap. Go Shocks!!!

I watched Memphis at halftime and they hit maybe 4 out of 10 3's at best. Crazy how well they shot the 3 during the game. As a team they were 35% 3 point shooters on the season.
Colby is good offensively but his defense was really bad. He left Jaykwon wide open time after time.
That was a really fun first half and an awful 2nd half.
Cortes had his best game as a Shocker. I think he's getting there. 4assists and 2 turnovers is much better. I think he is a decent 3pt shooter, 48% last year.
Pohto is really struggling.
I hope we can get some things fixed but I am losing hope fast.

The $48,000 bi-weekly payments to Gregg Marshall end on November 27, 2026.

The $108,000 monthly payments to Isaac Brown end in April 2026.

Mills' contract ends on June 30, 2028. If the contract is terminated before the end of year 3 (March 2026), he's owed the full amount of his contract. If after year 3, he's owed 75% of the remainder.

This is all to say there's probably nothing that will be done even if we still suck next season, unless someone drops a pretty serious bag off at the WSU athletic department.

After year 3, Brown's payments are nearing completion, and we'll only have about 7 months left on Marshall's.

play unselfish offense, and intense defense. that's the task. light a fire under them at halftime, like every good coach worth his salt uses halftimes for.

According to this, we won’t have contract relief until AFTER Season 4. If a change is made at the end of Season 3 (with no earned extension), Coach will get 100% of remaining contract. After Season 4, buyout drops to 75% of owed contract.

So, unless the wheels absolutely fall off in next two seasons, I would guess that HCPM gets three more seasons to get things fixed.
